Xavi Rabaseda

Xavi Rabaseda is one of the most explosive young players of the spanish ACB league. He comes from the FC Barcelona and will possibly return to this team in a few years, now he's playing on loan in the Fuenalbrada. Xavi Rabaseda was born in 1989. He's 6'06 tall and plays shooting guard and small forward position. He is compared by local journalists with James Worthy because of his dunking abilities. In fact he became known in the league thanks to a one handed dunk that was one of the top ten plays of that week.

However Rabaseda is not a player like Worhty. Rabaseda plays sometimes as small forward but as he develops as player his position will likely change to shooting guard. If he's playing small forward it's mainly because the needs of the team. He's not a shooter but it is sure that this point will be worked and consequently improved in the next few years. Another thing he doesn't do is playing in the paint. European basketball many times forces small forwards to play mainly in the perimeter so it is unknown wether Rabaseda could post or not, anyway his willingness to do so is limited so far.

On the other hand he has an impressive physical abilities that shows every game, allowing him to match with taller players. He runs the floor well and is capable of penetrating in almost every situation, with a remarkable first step. He has also outstanding finishing skills and can score from the 3-point line if he has time enough.

Regarding to his defensive skills he has quick feet and good legs to match with any small forward in Europe and almost any shooting guard. His hands are quick and he knows how to be in the passing line. Rabaseda is not known today as a top rebounder (he plays shooting guard) but due to his physical abilities he can help the team in this point.

Here is a video of his best game this year and below there are his stats this year.

Welcome

Welcome to my new blog Scouting Basketball Players. Not so many years ago I was used to write essays in english almost daily due to my work. I had to speak in public, write leaflets and emails... Now those days are far and I need to unrust my writing skills as soon as possible. So I've decided to join this need of writing with basketball, the game I love.

The target of this blog is people (coaches, journalists or supporters) that are not usual followers of the ACB spanish league and want to know more of the young players playing this league. We will see not also the ACB but european players too, trying to cover the Euroleague and rest of the european national leagues as far as we can.

So please forgive me for any grammatical mistakes that I'm sure you'll find among these lines and be welcomed to the blog.
